I will make rivers flow on barren heights, and springs within the valleys. I will turn the desert into pools water and the parched ground into springs. I will put in the desert the ceder and the acacia, the myrthle and the olive. I will set pines in the wasteland, the fir and cypress together, so that people may see and know, may consider and understand, that the hand of the Lord has done this, that the Holy One of Israel has created it.

Zoo Negara

We went to Zoo Negara during the Hari Raya holidays, John's first after his near drown accident. It was a bit crowded but we had a nice walk around seeing some of the animals. We also took a ride on the electric train. Needless to say John could only see the obvious animals; those that camouflage easily are just not there for a visually impaired person like him.
The small stream is John's favourite spot cos there's flowing water, a gentle breeze and a rickety metal sound when you bounce on the platform!
Happy holidays and Selamat Hari Raya.

Sorting yellow and blue

John's vision is a riddle to us. There are times when he can see better as in this case and times when he's just playing guessing game. Earlier on I felt a bit frustrated cos I just can't be sure if  he can see the colours or cognitively he knows how to sort or not. So we left it behind and do other things but he surprised us, in being able to sort colours and remembering his numbers (1-7). I also learn that on days when his vision is not so good to do something else.
We've been enjoying the London 2012 Olympic games; badminton, athletics, gymnastic, swimming, volley ball etc. John may not be able to see it clearly but he listens out for our comments and even turns to look at our expressions. I never thought I'll have so much fun watching the games with him.
Hope you'll enjoy the games too.
